Myers Cocktail IV Therapy

Restore. Replenish. Recharge.

When life gets busy, maintaining optimal nutrition and hydration can sometimes be challenging. Myers Cocktail IV Therapy is a physician-supervised intravenous micronutrient infusion designed to provide a combination of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and hydration directly into the bloodstream.

The traditional Myers Cocktail combines nutrients such as Vitamin C, B vitamins, magnesium, and other essential micronutrients selected to support normal cellular energy production, antioxidant defenses, muscle and nerve function, and overall nutritional wellness.

At Concordia Star Medical & Aesthetics, IV therapy is approached as medical care. Every new patient is evaluated to determine whether IV nutrient therapy is appropriate based on medical history, medications, health conditions, and individual wellness goals.

What Is a Myers Cocktail?

The Myers Cocktail originated as an intravenous combination of vitamins and minerals and has become one of the most recognized formulations used in integrative and wellness medicine.

While individual formulations may vary, a Myers-style infusion commonly contains a combination of:

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient and antioxidant involved in numerous physiologic processes, including normal collagen formation, antioxidant protection, immune function, and iron absorption.

B Vitamins

B vitamins participate in many of the biochemical reactions involved in converting nutrients from food into usable cellular energy. They also support normal nervous-system and metabolic function.

Magnesium

Magnesium is an essential mineral involved in hundreds of biochemical reactions throughout the body. It contributes to normal muscle and nerve function, energy production, glucose metabolism, and cardiovascular physiology.

Additional Nutrients

Depending on the individual patient's needs and our physician-directed protocol, additional nutrients may be incorporated when medically appropriate.

More Than Just Hydration

A Myers Cocktail provides more than intravenous fluid. It combines hydration with selected micronutrients involved in many of the body's normal cellular processes.

Patients often seek Myers IV Therapy as part of a wellness program for:

  • Nutritional replenishment
  • Hydration support
  • Supporting normal cellular energy metabolism
  • Antioxidant support
  • Supporting normal muscle and nerve function
  • Supporting general wellness during periods of increased physical or lifestyle demands
  • Complementing a healthy nutrition and wellness program

The goal is not to replace a healthy diet, adequate sleep, hydration, exercise, or appropriate medical treatment. Instead, Myers IV Therapy may serve as an adjunct to a comprehensive physician-directed wellness program.

Why IV?

Intravenous administration delivers fluid and nutrients directly into the bloodstream rather than requiring absorption through the gastrointestinal tract.

This does not necessarily mean that IV vitamins are superior to oral nutrition for every patient. For healthy individuals without a nutritional deficiency or medical indication, high-quality evidence demonstrating significant additional health benefits from routine high-dose IV vitamin therapy remains limited.

This is why we believe patient selection is important.

At Concordia Star Medical & Aesthetics, we evaluate each patient individually rather than treating IV therapy as a one-size-fits-all wellness service.

Physician-Supervised IV Wellness

IV therapy is medical therapy.

Before your first Myers Cocktail infusion, our medical team evaluates your:

  • Medical history
  • Current medications and supplements
  • Allergies
  • Kidney and liver health
  • Cardiovascular history
  • Nutritional and wellness goals
  • Relevant laboratory results when indicated

Additional testing may be recommended depending on your medical history and the ingredients and doses being considered.

Our goal is to provide IV therapy thoughtfully and safely while determining whether it is appropriate for you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who Is a Good Candidate for a Myers Cocktail?

Myers IV Therapy may be considered for generally healthy adults who are interested in physician-supervised:

  • Hydration and micronutrient replenishment
  • Nutritional support
  • Antioxidant support
  • Support for normal energy metabolism
  • General wellness
  • Recovery support during periods of increased physical or lifestyle demands

Whether you are a good candidate depends on your health history, medications, laboratory findings when applicable, and treatment goals.

New patients require a medical evaluation before receiving IV therapy.

Can a Myers Cocktail Give Me More Energy?

The nutrients commonly included in a Myers Cocktail, particularly B vitamins and magnesium, participate in the biochemical pathways responsible for normal cellular energy metabolism.

However, IV therapy is not a stimulant, and it should not be presented as a treatment for unexplained or persistent fatigue.

If you are experiencing ongoing fatigue, your physician may recommend evaluating possible underlying causes such as anemia, thyroid disease, nutritional deficiency, sleep disorders, medications, or other medical conditions before recommending treatment.

Can Myers IV Therapy Boost My Immune System?

Several nutrients traditionally included in a Myers Cocktail, including Vitamin C and certain B vitamins, are necessary for normal immune function.

We prefer the term immune support rather than promising to "boost" the immune system.

Myers IV Therapy is not intended to prevent or cure infections and should not replace appropriate medical treatment, vaccination, nutrition, sleep, or other preventive health measures.

Will It Help With Hydration?

Yes. Because the nutrients are administered in an intravenous fluid solution, the treatment also provides hydration.

However, significant dehydration caused by persistent vomiting, diarrhea, heat illness, infection, or another medical condition may require evaluation and treatment in an urgent-care or hospital setting rather than a wellness IV infusion.

How Often Can I Receive a Myers Cocktail?

There is no single schedule that is appropriate for every patient.

Some patients may receive an occasional infusion, while others may be candidates for a physician-directed series based on their health status, nutritional needs, laboratory findings, and treatment goals.

Your provider will recommend an appropriate treatment interval after evaluation.

Do I Need Laboratory Testing?

Not every patient requires the same laboratory evaluation.

Depending on your medical history and the formulation being considered, your physician may review or request laboratory testing such as:

  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP)
  • Kidney function
  • Electrolytes
  • Magnesium
  • CBC
  • Relevant vitamin levels
  • Other laboratory studies when medically indicated

Patients with certain underlying medical conditions may require additional evaluation before receiving IV therapy.

Who May Not Be a Good Candidate?

Myers IV Therapy may not be appropriate for everyone.

Additional evaluation or avoidance of treatment may be necessary for patients with:

  • Significant kidney impairment
  • Certain heart conditions or fluid restrictions
  • Significant electrolyte abnormalities
  • Certain medication interactions
  • Known allergies to infusion ingredients
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Certain chronic or acute medical conditions

Your physician will determine whether IV therapy is appropriate based on your individual health history.

Are There Risks With IV Therapy?

Although IV nutrient therapy is generally well tolerated when appropriately administered, all intravenous treatments carry potential risks.

These can include:

  • Discomfort at the IV site
  • Bruising
  • Bleeding
  • Inflammation of the vein
  • Dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Nausea
  • Flushing or warmth
  • Changes in blood pressure
  • Electrolyte disturbances
  • Allergic or hypersensitivity reactions
  • Infection
  • Fluid overload in susceptible individuals

Rare but more serious complications are also possible.

Because many IV wellness preparations are compounded or customized, pharmaceutical quality and sterile preparation are particularly important. The FDA notes that compounded medications are not FDA-approved and therefore do not undergo the same premarket review for safety, effectiveness, and quality as FDA-approved medications.

Does Research Support the Myers Cocktail?

The Myers Cocktail has been used for decades in integrative medicine, but scientific evidence remains limited.

Small studies have investigated intravenous micronutrient therapy, including a controlled pilot trial in patients with fibromyalgia; however, the available evidence is not sufficient to establish the Myers Cocktail as a proven treatment for fatigue, chronic pain, infections, or other medical conditions.

For this reason, at Concordia Star Medical & Aesthetics we offer Myers IV Therapy as a physician-supervised wellness and micronutrient therapy, not as a substitute for the diagnosis or treatment of medical disease.
